Blade info:
“Hemi” blades are named for the unique hem that makes the blades both light and very durable. The “hem” is a double thickness design feature that runs the entire length of the blade. These blades have undergone extensive aerodynamic testing and are extremely efficient. Hemi blades have a low cut in speed and more momentum than aluminum blades.

The hub is pre-primed and ready to be painted your favorite color. The blades are naturally shiny, but you may paint them also.

Q. How much power can these blades make?
A. Here is the official formula that can estimate it: 1.4(air density) x 0.4 (efficiency) x 10 meters per second wind speed (22.3 miles per hour) x 2.4 (wind blade area in meters, or 8’ diameter in feet) =1086 watts. Of course you will get more wattage with higher winds and less wattage with lighter wind. Here is a toolbox to use. You must first convert feet to meters to use the calculator!

Q. Why do you supply standard fasteners instead of stainless?
A. We stopped supplying stainless fasteners because many of our customers want to buy them locally.
Q. What is the warranty on your blades, hub and 500 watt generator?
A. Hemi blades are rated for 55 mph max wind speed, and are warranted for 6 months. If the blades fail in 55 mph conditions or less, we will replace them for free. You must pay for the shipping. The hub is guaranteed for life. Our 500 watt generator has a 90 day warranty.
Q. Why don’t the blades come painted?
A. There are 2 main reasons. It is not necessary to paint galvanized blades. They are coated with zinc, and designed to last 20 years or more outdoors. Second. Every customer has a different color preference. Allowing the customer to paint the blades, or leave them natural silver lowers the cost, which gets passed on to you.
Q. What is the bore size of the hub?
A. Our hub is designed for either a 1/2 or 17mm shaft because these are the most common sizes. If your shaft is other than 1/2 or 17mm you can drill the hub to fit your needs, or ask us for assistance. We will not custom drill a hub without some kind size documentation.
Q. Do you make a 5 blade kit?
A. No. According to our research, 5 bladed configurations fail to produce as much power as 3 blades. If 5 blades were better, large windmill manufactures like GE and Suzlon would use them. In fact: After the initial cut in speed has been achieved by 5 bladed designs, they tend to impair the performance of the generator with unwanted air turbulence.
Q. How do I file a warranty claim to get a new set of blades?
A. We will replace your blades free of charge for up to 6 months if they fail. We may ask you for wind speed verification. You can obtain wind speed info from your local TV station.
